OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators announced today they have re-signed defenceman Geoff Kinrade to a one-year, two-way contract.

Kinrade, 25, spent the the 2009-10 season with Ottawa’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Binghamton Senators, recording professional highs in goals (seven), assists (20) and points (27) while accumulating 59 penalty minutes in a career-high 76 games. He ranked first among B-Sens and finished tied for 14th in the AHL in plus/minus with a +27 rating.

The 6-0, 195-pound native of Nelson, B.C., made his professional debut with the AHL’s Norfolk Admirals after signing an amateur tryout contract with the Tampa Bay Lightning in March 2009. In 10 games with the Lightning’s primary affiliate, he recorded four points (one goal, three assists) and 12 penalty minutes. Kinrade was recalled by the Lightning on one occasion in 2008-09 and made his NHL debut on April 9, 2009, against Washington. He was held scoreless in that contest.

Kinrade, who signed as a free agent with the Senators on July 10, 2009, played four U.S. college seasons with the Michigan Tech Huskies of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association before turning professional. He attended Ottawa’s development and rookie camp in July and September of 2009, respectively.

Hoppá, Murray ugyen nem hoz már védőt, de számol a sérülésekkel, és Corynak is ad bőven merítési lehetőséget.
